Tax Office Update

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 130 giving municipalities the authority to extend the grace period for 2nd qtr. real property taxes. Holmdel Township adopted a resolution extending the 2nd qtr. grace period to June 1.

2nd qtr. payments received by the Tax Collector on or before June 1 will not incur any interest penalties. Payments received after June 1 will accrue interest penalties from the statutory due date of May 1. Residents enrolled in the Direct Withdrawal Program will have property taxes withdrawn from their bank accounts on Monday, May 11.

Residents who are able to make tax payments on time are urged to do so as proper cash flow is imperative to keeping public safety and other vital government operations on line.

Executive Order 130 DOES NOT affect 2nd qtr. PILOT assessment payments due May 1. The grace period for PILOT assessment payments ends May 11 and Direct Withdrawal payments will be deducted from bank accounts on May 6.

Township Offices are currently closed to the public.  You may reach a member of the Tax Office via e-mail or telephone Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Cash payments for property taxes, PILOT taxes, sewer utility taxes, water/sewer assessments and dog licensing will not be accepted by the Tax Office until further notice.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the State has placed funding for Homestead Credits in reserve to meet emergency and statutorily required obligations.  Therefore, Homestead Credits will not be applied to the 2nd Qtr. 2020 property taxes.

Property Tax and PILOT payments are due February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1.  Autowithdrawal Payments will be processed on the 6th day of the month they are due.  There is a 10-day grace period for all payments.  If payment is received after the grace period, interest will accrue from the statutory due date.
