Canine Teams
The Holmdel Township Police Department is committed to using the latest technology and investigative tools. This includes the use of highly trained police canine teams.

K-9 Officer Sergeant Edward Martinez
Sergeant Martinez joined the Holmdel Police Department in December 2000. Martinez was formerly a police officer with the Jersey City Police Department assigned to the Emergency Services and K-9 Units.Sergeant Martinez is currently working with two K-9 Partners:  Artie is a Black Lab trained is explosives detection, and the Department's newest canine, Patriot, is in training for patrol and narcotics.  Patriot came to the Department from the Seeing Eye.  

Holmdel Police Welcome New K-9 Partner:
Officer Joseph Van Pelt, who lost his K-9 Partner Diogi last year, has recently chosen a new partner.  K-9 Cairo is a 17 month old Belgian Malinois from Slovakia. Cairo along with K-9 Ofc. VanPelt will begin scent training at the Morris County K-9 Academy on Monday, August 31st.

The purchase of Cairo was made possible through a donation from Doctor & Mrs. Caesar DePaço of Summit Nutritionals, Inc.
